Survival Guide for the First Trimester

I’ve been getting a lot of requests to share with you my pregnancy and if there’s been any products that have helped me along the way.

So let‘s get started I’m going to share with you about my first trimester!

We had just gotten back from our honeymoon in Hawaii and life seemed to just be starting to get back in order except something was different-I was super sensitive to smells.… warning number 1. Well my period date came and went and a positive line immediately came on my pregnancy test, it was official I‘m pregnant.

My first trimester was ROCKY mainly because I had the worst nausea and what I like to call all day everyday sickness. I was barely keeping anything down and these weren’t little pukes this was full on projectile vomiting. There was literally a point I think at about 6 weeks I was questioning if I was going to make it through this pregnancy. I also was getting bad calf and foot cramps in the middle of the night which actually is a common symptom. Along with these I was hardly sleeping through the night constantly tossing and turning and having to pee. The other thing I noticed was wow, I’m showing really quickly but at our midwife appt we went to we only heard one heart beat and it was possible that I was showing a little more.

We were almost 16 weeks pregnant when we found out our big surprise! But before I just to far ahead, let’s chat about how I survived the first trimester…

Ancient Minerals Magnesium Lotion $19.95 on Amazon

I rub this on my calves nightly! Well let’s be on honest….Austin rubs this on my calves nightly. This helps me sleep and prevents those awful charley horses in the middle of the night.

MyKind Organics B-12 Vitamin Spray $14.72 on Amazon

Did you know that B-Vitamins can help with nausea? When I started using this it was a game changer, I already had a capsule form of B-vitamins but apply this spray under your tongue every morning seemed to do the trick. I’m still doing this even well into my second trimester.

Peppermint Essential Oil-5ml $10.75 at Young Living

Inhaling Peppermint by diffusing or sniffing the bottle helped ease the morning sickness.

Dramamine Ginger Chews $9.42 on Amazon

I was desperate from all the nausea anything to help get some food into my tummy. Took this a few times a day when I start to feel a little queasy. I found that these worked better for me then the lozenges but would take both.

Traditional Medicine Ginger Lozenges-Morning Ease $11.99 on Amazon

I was desperate from all the nausea and all day projectile vomiting anything to help get some food into my tummy. Took this a few times a day when I start to feel a little queasy. I paired this with the ginger chews above.

Traditional Medicine Nighty Night Tea-6pack $21.95 on Amazon

I drink about 12oz of this yummy tea every night before bed and leave a couple sips for when I wake up in the middle of the night. I’m able to sleep more comfortably and if I do wake up I often fall back asleep almost immediately.

Tranquil Roll-On $30.75 at Young Living

Applied this to my wrists and neck/spine before bed! Nighty Night

NingXia Red-2 bottles $76 at Young Living

The benefits to this drink is seriously spectacular but that’s for another time-check out my blog post on it. There are so many benefits and I knew I need to drink 2oz a day even when the taste wasn’t all that appealing during my first trimester.

**If you do decide, to grab any Young Living products please use my referral ID #16875301, if your a new member I‘ll send you some goodies for your first order and so much more**

These were the products that helped get me through the first trimester but I also learned a few tricks.…

  1. Always have a garbage bag, paper towels or tissues, and wet wipes in your car or your partners car when your leave the house! Let’s just say I needed them more then once.

  2. Listen to your body! If you need sleep, go sleep! Your body knows what’s best for itself.

  3. If eating a roll a bread without puking is all you can do that’s better then nothing. I literally ate whatever as long as I kept it down I was happy. Once the all day sickness passed right at the beginning of my second trimester I was able to focus on my diet and nutrients a lot more.

  4. Have Grace! Your body is changing and accept the changes and take in these precious moments because you wont be in the first trimester forever.
